Mirna – at the interface between people, machines and processes

How long have you been with Eisberg, and in what role?

Mirna has been part of Eisberg since June 2017 – and has therefore been on board from the very beginning at this location. Today, as Head of Production, she is responsible for the processes within the plant and, together with her team, is shaping the future of Freshness and Frozen Convenience. She describes her time at Eisberg with an image that immediately sticks: “A wild roller-coaster ride.” Highs, lows, surprising twists – and plenty of learning curves. It is exactly this dynamic that she loves about her work.

In her role as Production Manager, Mirna sees herself as a creator and enabler. She challenges processes with passion, reimagines workflows, and develops solutions together with her team that not only work in the short term, but also endure in the long term. She is particularly fascinated by the interplay of people, machines and processes: “Precisely at this interface, I see the greatest opportunities for further development.”

For Mirna, people are the focus. She enjoys identifying potential, developing employees, and supporting them as they take on responsibility and surpass themselves. “For me, leadership is successful when people become more confident, develop further and are proud of what they achieve together,” she says. Although key figures are indeed part of their daily routine and serve as an important basis for decisions, they only truly become motivating when there is a story behind the numbers: When an idea leads to a sustainable improvement, processes become simpler and more stable, and the team grows together.

Which stages of your career have shaped you?

After her studies at the University of Vienna, Mirna first gained several years’ experience in the food industry. Her time there was an important introduction to the world of production – offering valuable insights into processes, structures, and the distinct features of industrial food manufacturing.

With the move to Eisberg, a new chapter began for her: What started as theory and initial professional experience became a “live learning laboratory” – with growing responsibility, new challenges, and the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping a site. She therefore describes the time as “a wild rollercoaster ride”: Intense, fast-paced, sometimes challenging – but always enlightening and full of special moments.

What was your most exciting and/or beautiful moment at Eisberg?

Mirna finds it difficult to settle on just one moment – she has already collected too many special experiences at Eisberg. A definite highlight for her was the construction of the plant in Marchtrenk: from plant design to route planning and hygiene zones, the first products and numerous initial productions, through to the establishment of departments, teams and processes.

“We were allowed to do an incredible number of things for the first time and to develop a site from the ground up together. To see how a successful production site develops from an idea, step by step, was and still is a real highlight for me,” she says. She was also particularly shaped by having been involved in designing various areas from the very beginning — especially the establishment of the CSB team and the introduction of the ERP system. She describes creating new things together, growing as a team and building structures that will last in the long term as intense, challenging and, at the same time, very rewarding. Her most recent personal highlight was the move to production. “From the very first day, I was given such a warm welcome in all areas, as if I had always been part of the team,” she says. This openness, the trust, the mutual support and solidarity deeply impressed her. It is exactly these experiences, this team spirit, and the people she works with every day that make Eisberg something truly special for her.

What is your motto in life – at work and in your private life?

“Nothing changes, if nothing changes.” This motto guides Mirna every day – at work just as much as in her private life. She is convinced: Change takes courage. If we always do the same thing, we will always get the same results.
That is why she deliberately questions existing processes, seeks improvements, and regularly leaves her comfort zone. “That’s exactly where personal growth begins for me,” she says. This attitude shapes her leadership style and her view of production: Change is not a disruptive factor for them, but an opportunity to improve together.

Eisberg’s motto has been since early 2024: “Everyone Loves Salad”. Do you love salad too?

“Yes, of course 😉“, answers Mirna without hesitation. For her, salad should above all do one thing: really fill you up – and protein is the main player here.

What is your favorite salad ingredient?

“Anything with protein,” Mirna says with a smile. Meat, chickpeas, lentils, or eggs — that’s how a light dish becomes a hearty meal. Your favourite combination? A good salad to accompany a perfectly cooked steak. Her favourite salad is burrata with flavourful tomatoes and Croatian olive oil – summery, creamy and full of taste. Alongside this is her favourite vegetable, beetroot, and her favourite fruit, watermelon, which to her tastes of holidays and warm evenings.

What was the most exciting salad combination you’ve ever tried?

One experience stands out vividly in her memory: a seafood salad with lotus roots and fish dressing in a small side alley in Hoi An, Vietnam. Looking back, perhaps a bold choice – but it tasted “sensational, in any case”. For Mirna, these are exactly the sort of moments that are typical: Be curious, try new things and stay open to surprises – in life as well as at work.

If you were to describe yourself as a salad, which one would you be?

“Lollo Rosso – curly and sometimes a little fiery,” she says with a wink. Plenty of character, a touch of wildness, and at the same time flexible in combination – that’s exactly how she likes her work: lively, versatile and with room for development.

What gives you energy outside the office?

“I love travelling, diving, reading, doing sport, hiking and taking photographs,” says Mirna. It is also especially important to her to spend time with her family and friends. Because the people around her are her greatest source of strength.
